Literally, Ten Chi (or Ten-Chikyu) means "the heaven the earth." and refers to the creation of the world or the beginning of human history, and thus is the initial pattern learned by the beginner. It does not use any kicks. The cross shaped diagram represents the four elements of the universe : fire, water, air and earth. In some aspects, this patter is very similar to the patterns of other arts - similar to the Tae Kwon-Do: Chon Ji and the Karate: Shihozuki (Cross Kata).
